Adult Education

Temple Isaiah offers a wide range of opportunities for Adult Learning through our Adult Education Program and Rabbi’s Classes. Adult Education courses are open to the community, often free of charge. Educational offerings in the past have included programs on subjects as varied as Jewish genealogy, Jews in film and entertainment, Jewish music and Jews in American history. A bi-monthly session is held on current events of the day viewed through a Jewish prism.

Our Rabbi’s Classes covers diverse topics on most Thursday evenings at 7:30. Recent subjects include: Basics of Islam, Wisdom Literature, Introduction to Jewish Philosophy, Introduction to the Mishnah, Talmud and Midrash. Future offerings for 2013 include: Jewish Responsa, Jeremiah & Ezekiel and Jewish Humour. A monthly pre-Friday evening service Shul-Talk is offered on a particular area of ritual or liturgy. Our monthly Monday Lunch & Learn group discusses Reform Judaism and political or social issues from a Jewish perspective.

Introduction to Judaism, Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah and Adult Confirmation classes are also offered from time to time.
